"I attended Purdue for two years and then married MaDonna Horton, (Class of ' 60.), and we divorced in ' 66. I entered the Air Force, did 2 tours in Viet Nam, and was discharged as a Sergeant. After my discharge, I married  a girl that I met while I was stationed in San Antonio, and we have two daughters. I later returned to school, receiving my BA in ' 78, and Masters in ' 79, and have  retired from the Houston Independent School District, due to health concerns.   I am currently working as a Special Education Consultant for Charter Schools, in the Houston area."

"I'm living in Toledo, OH (well someone has to live in Toledo!) and have been here for 22 years. I graduated from Tech in January '60 moved to Cincinnati and got married March '60. Worked for 6 years before going back to school. In 1966 I enrolled and attended The University of Cincinnati and graduated with a BBA 1970. I worked at two companies in Cincy before accepting Credit Managers position at Owens Corning Toledo 1978. Had 5 children from first marriage (they are all grown and out on their own all over the country). Divorced,  was single for couple years then remarried '83.  We have two teenage daughters 17 and 15 . . . and they run me ragged. "

Aloha from Honolulu:
Kicked out of my first grade class by my teacher, and severely punished by the school principal because I couldn't read, as one of the dyslexic illiterates the Indianapolis Public School System went on to produced, I eagerly left Indiana in 1961 in search of my fortune. My short career with the United States Air Force took me to Hawai'i where I played my part in the communications network throughout the many islands of the South Pacific and in Asia while being present during the nuclear and rocket testing at Johnston Island at the beginning of the Vietnam War era. After leaving the Air Force in 1965 I had the privilege of traveling the world and getting to meet and know many of its people, their wonderful cultures and customs. I was successful in my chosen career field, and upon retiring began my writing career following my recovery from death on September 12, 1996.

Living in Hawai'i was a choice I made many years ago, and while life has produced several very interesting twists and turns, none of them can compare to being a former illiterate high school graduate who now finds himself involved in a fabulous writing career.  I hope every graduate of Tech enjoys the rich and rewarding life experiences as have I.

A note from Nick:  "Hey, what a great site for Tech and the alums.  Great to hear from someone.  I'm sure you feel they way I do; I can't believe it has been 40 years since I graduated. Boy, what a shock each time I think about it.

I am presently completing a Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin (at my young age of 58) in Instructional Technology and Distance Education on the Internet.  Hope to complete it by December of this year.  Then what?  We will see."

"I took my BA in English Lit from Rockford College, in Rockford, Illinois, in 1964.  Nam kept me from going into scholarship and linguistics as I planned, so I taught high school instead, first at Wood in Indy, later in the south suburbs of Chicago.

I met my wife of 33 years, Ruth, in college.  After living in Indianapolis for 3 years, we moved the south suburbs, and then to Rockford, Illinois, (coincidentally) in 1973, where she serves as Director of the area girl scout council.

After burning out on teaching, I took up sales.  More burnout, and I became Director of Operations for Burpee Museum of Natural History in Rockford.  I manage the maintenance and visitor services staffs, write the newsletter, and occasionally do bird watching programs and classes at the museum and sometimes at the local botanical gardens.

My mother, Aurelia Davis Little (Tech '29), still lives near 10th and Sherman.  She and I were both students of Ellen Sengenberger, and I still use the journalism techniques Ella taught us on Cannon Staff.

My hobbies are bird watching (believe it or not, I started that habit on Tech campus in the nature preserve area during a zoology class outing), playing an oriental strategy game called Go, and playing the 5-string banjo.  I truly look forward to seeing and talking to past classmates from Tech."

I lived in Indianapolis until I was 24 years old. I then married Lonnie W. Jones and moved to southern Indiana, where I have been ever since. I graduated from Tech in June of 1960, worked at Eli Lilly until I was married in March of 1966, had 4 children, who in turn have given me 6 grandchildren. I was married for 30 years before I was widowed.  My oldest daughter Marcy, now lives in Texas. She served 15 years in the U.S. Navy, retired to take care of husband and 2 sons.
My son Scott lives in North Carolina, retired after 20 years from the Army - Special Forces, and now works as a contractor in Iraq. He has 2 daughters. My youngest son Tony lives in a town close by, and is the only one I get to babysit for. ;-)) That's about it!  I now live alone, love to flower garden and breed and show my Turkish Angora kitties.

"I was born at Union Hospital at Terre Haute, Indiana in 1942.  However, I've lived my entire life in the Indianapolis area.  After High School I attended John Herron Art Institute with the hope of becoming a commercial art illustrator.  When I decided I wasn't another Norman Rockwell, I decided to move on.  I joined the Marine Corps in 1964.  Spent four years, most of which was overseas duty -- two tours in Europe and 13 months in Vietnam.

After my discharge I really didn't have any idea of a career.   I did receive a nice offer from the State Police, but I wasn't really interested in law enforcement.  Finally, the Veterans Administration contacted me and asked if I had any interest in Computer Technology.  As a result of that break, I've worked in some form of Computer Technology for 32 years.

My hobbies are fishing, active participation in my Masonic Lodge and model trains.  I am divorced and have a lovely daughter who wants to pursue a career in either computer technology or meteorology."

"I was born and raised in Brightwood and the Brookside area.   I'm the youngest child in a family of eight children and the only girl.  All of my older brothers went to Tech from my oldest brother, Ed, in the class of 1939 to me in 1960.   My greatest memories of Tech are of the Girls' Ensemble, TechChoir, SAO Board, and Senior Council.  It was a great time with wonderful friends.   And we made incredible music!

After graduating from Tech, I married Bob Dunaway, also a 1960 graduate.  We spent six years at Purdue then lived in Iowa and Utah before we divorced in the mid-70s.  I moved back to Zionsville, Indiana where I raised our three children, Rob, Kirk and Darcy Dunaway. I now live in the Sarasota, Florida area and work for a communications engineering firm.

Over the years, I've been something of an organizer and dedicated volunteer in addition to always working a full-time job.  My avocation today is genealogy and you can see what I've done by visiting my site, Denton Genealogy.

I'd love to hear from old friends!"

I had to leave school in December of 1960 due to an illness in the family and should have graduated in 1961.  I came back to Dayton and finished my last 6 months of schooling. I have always thought of myself as a graduate of Tech.  My major at school was printing.

Becky (Laing) Meredith

I lived in the Brightwood area until 11 years old, attending school 51.  We lived on the corner where the trolley turned!  We moved to the other side of the park and I attended schools 54 and 81 before heading to Tech in '63.

After graduating from Tech, worked several jobs in the Indianapolis area then moved to Dallas in '72 for 4 years, my youngest son is a Texan and proud of it! I moved back to Indy, then in '79 ran into an old classmate from '66  (John Kuhn) and married him and moved to Wisconsin, then back to Northern Indiana.  We built a house in Peru. But, due to incompatibility difficulties, I moved back to Indy and left him in Northern Indiana!  I have been in this area since that time.

I went to Beauty School in the late '70's and owned my own salon in Castleton for 14 years before deciding the rat race was too much.  I was working way to many hours.  I discovered Mary Kay Cosmetics and found I didn't have to work so hard!  I am now a hairstylist out of my home about 2 days a week, work about 15 more hours as a Beauty Consultant and have the rest of the time to devote to my loving Husband, family and dear Mother!

I now live in the Noblesville area and have 2 sons, a step son and 2 stepdaughters and 5 lovely Grandchildren to spoil!  I love being "MiMi" and having the freedom to go and do things whenever they need me or want to see me!

I am into Gardening and attending the Colt's games!  My husband, Rick, could watch sports 24/7 and sometimes has two-three tv's going at the same time watching different events!

I am on the Reunion Committee for our Class and hope to hear from anyone from the Tech Site.

My Sisters, Patty and Judy also attended Tech and my younger brother Ernie Shearer went to Tech and graduated in the Navy.  I also have two younger brothers that went to Warren.

"I attended IPS Whittier School # 33 for my grade school years, entering first grade in the "spring" semester of 1951. I enrolled at Tech Junior High in the spring semester of 1958. How big the campus was-I got lost many times, but by the end of that semester I knew my way around pretty well. My High School years officially began with the spring semester of 1959. My majors were English, French and History. I was active in French Club, Y-Teens and Future Teachers of America. Football games and basketball games were part of my life also. I liked Chorus classes, but did not have any desire to be in Techoir. I was in the Elizabeth Kaltz Singers for two years, I did enjoy that very much. After High School, I worked for a year at the Star News. I was a telephone "girl" in the circulation department, taking mostly complaints from people who did not get their newspapers.

I enrolled at I. U. extension in downtown Indianapolis in the fall of ’64 and transferred to Bloomington in 1966. I completed my degree in sociology in June of 1969, with minors in Social Work, History and Library Science. I began work as a Children’s Librarian later that month the Indianapolis Marion County Library. Since then, I have worked in branches, on the bookmobile and at the Central Library, my current assignment. I have enjoyed a rich career. One of the things about working for a large library system is that although I have been a librarian for 32 years, I have done the exact same job all that time. Branches are individual entities, really. My favorite branch assignments were all on the east-side-Spades Park, and Hilton U. Brown, soon to be re-named Irvington. I love working with children and have told many stories, done many puppet shows, and early in my career, was one of the "library ladies" on the old Kindergarten college TV show. My job changes all the time as trends in publishing come and go. What is new today is old tomorrow. That makes it exciting. But it is the kids who are the same that keeps me going.

As far as kids of my own, I have six wonderful nieces and nephews and six terrific grand nieces and nephews. My brother Bill and sisters Susan and Debbie also attended Tech in the ‘60s’. Bill was in the class of 65, Susan 66 and Debbie in ’69. They are all living in the Indianapolis area. Bill works for the Star News, Susan is a secretary, and Debbie is an IPS teacher. Besides reading, I dabble in crocheting and machine quilting. I also like to explore old cemeteries [especially Crown Hill in Indy] and "antiquing." I still live on the east side of Indy-not far from the Spades Park neighborhood where I grew up. Who would have thought in 1960 that at age 56 I would be having more fun than ever. But life, even with the "fun" over fifty kind of things, is good."

"I am currently the Principal of Arsenal Technical High School.

I hope you are receiving hundreds of responses to your search for alums.  We
are an under-utilized but a highly valuable resource for the school.  I'd
love to know if and when the alumni executive board meets so I could attend.
I know the Class of 50 helped to restore the Arsenal Tower clock.  It's
still ticking!  The class of 51 is working on restoring the Guard House.
I'd certainly love for a class to light Stuart Hall tower.  I'm certain it
would be as impressive as the Arsenal at night.  Something to keep in mind.

Thanks for working on this Alumni Website.  Your dedication to ATHS is
priceless.

My maiden name was Kimberlie Kemper and I graduated from ATHS in 1986. I am the 2nd generation to graduate from ATHS and would love hear from anyone who might remember me (only attended senior year) but mostly from anyone who knew my parents and can maybe share some good gossip about them as teenagers....lol

My fathers name is Robert L. Kemper and graduated class of 1968. His sfamily lived on N Randolph St and has 3 brothers: Ronny, Mike and Eugene. My mother is Christine A. Eland (maiden name). She did not graduate (my fault...SURPRISE!!) but she would have been in the class of 1969 I think. Her family lived at the corner of New York and Hamilton. Her brothers and sisters are: Wally, Bill, John, Joe and Joanie. They were married until I was 2. They are both alive and well but I would love to stir up some old memories. Thank you in advance for any tidbits!

After graduation I attended Marian College here in Indianapolis.  I interned as a deputy revenue officer trainee with the Internal Revenue Service in Indianapolis in 1971.  I played one semester of varsity basketball at Marian.  I attended Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, KY on a basketball scholarship, however I did not play the year I was there because of NCAA transfer regulations.  I worked with the United States Treasury Department as a social security records clerk with the Veterans Administration and the Joint United Military Payroll System at the Army Finance Center.  I worked as an office manager and tax technician for Walker Realty, my fathers business. I am retired due to heart disease and diabetes.  I never married or had children.  I still reside at the same residence I did while attending Tech High School.  My hobbies include riding motorcycles ,listening to jazz fusion music, surfing the internet, science and politics.
